A Lincoln man has been sentenced to more than 30 years in federal prison for bank robberies in Omaha, Lincoln, and Council Bluffs, IA.
The United States Attorney’s office reports that 53-year-old Cameron Mitchell has been sentenced after pleading guilty to robbing seven banks between late June and late August in 2012.
Mitchell walked into the banks armed with a handgun. He jumped over the counters into the teller areas of the banks where he grabbed money from the teller drawers and stuffed it into bags he carried with him.
Along with the sentence, Mitchell will be required to serve five years of supervised release and will be required to pay more than $74,000 in restitution to the banks.
