First, it was Milford.
Now, many more will benefit from an anonymous donor who is distributing millions to charities, churches and non-profits throughout the Lincoln area.
Union Bank and Trust has disclosed that the $7 million given to organizations in Milford was only part of a $33 million donation.
Now, 32 charitable groups will receive donations; groups such as Nebraska Wesleyan University, Union College, and the University of Nebraska Foundation as well as Center for People in Need, the United Methodist Church, and the Salvation Army. The Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools received a million dollars.
The gifts will come in the form of stock in Farmers and Merchants Investment, which has majority ownership in Union Bank and Trust. Those receiving donations can either retain the shares or cash them in.
