Nebraska U-S Senator’s Mike Johanns and Deb Fischer are both pleased with Congress’ compromise on passing a Farm Bill. Both stated the bill isn’t perfect but does have a number of positives that will benefit Nebraska’s farmers and ranchers.
Senator Deb Fischer says the bill provides new ways to fight waste, fraud and abuse. It offers a strong conservation program and incentives to protect our land and air. She says this bill will strengthen rural areas, help beginning farmers and ranchers and deliver nutrition assistance to those in need.
Senator Mike Johanns says he would have liked to have seen stronger payment limits and a movement away from target prices but the bill does strengthen crop insurance programs and conservation practices. He is also pleased to see disaster assistance available to livestock producers as well as strengthens crop insurance programs.
