It takes a lot of hard work to get ready for February 14th.
Tracy Roberts is the manager of Taylor’s Flower Shop & Greenhouse in Omaha and says planning for Valentine’s Day started weeks ago. She calls Valentine’s Day the Super Bowl for florists.
Roberts says they hire extra help inside the store this time of year to prepare the flowers and get them arranged. They will have twelve delivery drivers this year that will start the day at about 7:30 and wrap up around 6:30 pm.
Roberts has done this a long time and has ordering inventory down to a science. Roses are the biggest seller and Roberts ordered 2,700 of the blooms to get her through the day.
While Valentine’s Day may be the biggest day of the year for florists Mother’s Day runs a close second. Roberts says “everyone has a Mother but not everyone a lover.”
