La Vista is looking at increasing their city sales tax one-half cent in order to raise the money needed to help revitalize what is known as their 84th Street Corridor. La Vista Mayor Doug Kindig says the public will have their say during a public meeting Tuesday. He is confident that residents want what has been known as the Golden Mile restored to its former glory. Plans are early stages but there has been talk of smaller retail space, corporate office space and even condominiums.
Mayor Kindig says the tax would generate about $1.1-million to help bring businesses back to the strip mall that now has only a handful of tenants. If approved the issue could go before voters in May.
