A western Nebraska jailer strangled by a teen-age inmate has been declared brain dead.
The Scotts Bluff County Attorney’s Office reports 24-year-old Amanda Baker was attacked at the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center by a 15-year-old inmate who strangled her. Baker was taken to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, where she later was declared dead.
The office says the teen-ager from Torrington, Wyoming has been arrested on suspicion of attempted first degree murder. He had been locked up in the county jail since early December, charged with robbing a Mitchell, Nebraska convenience store.
