Authorities at the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center have released a surveillance video that clearly shows a teenage inmate attacking a female guard.
The video shows 15-year-old Dylan Cardeilhac of Torrington, Wyoming, pointing to something on the floor of his cell early Friday morning.
The guard, 24-year-old Amanda Baker, is shown walking in and looking down — and turning her back to the inmate.
Cardeilhac is seen attacking Baker, jumping on her back, forcing her to the floor and strangling her for about two-and-a-half minutes until her body goes limp.
Baker never regained consciousness and died on Sunday.
Cardeilhac is now charged with murder in Baker’s death. He was originally held in the robbery of a convenience store.
A memorial service for Baker will be held Saturday in Scottsbluff.
