A former Lexington police officer has pleaded guilty to attempted burglary.
The Attorney General’s office reports Officer Terrance Smith faces a possible five-year prison sentence or up to a $10,000 fine or both.
Smith, on duty with the Lexington Police Department, was caught by video surveillance May 19th of last year entering the Landmark Implement business, outside of his jurisdiction. The video discloses Smith searched through drawers and cabinets in the business office before he left without taking anything of value.
Smith will be sentenced in late April in Dawson County District Court.
