A truck driver has been killed when a Union Pacific train slammed into his propane truck in southeastern Nebraska.
The deadly train – propane truck accident early Tuesday afternoon occurred about three miles south of Union in Otoe County.
The train pushed the Drake Propane truck off the tracks. It rolled about 300 yards into a farm field. A small amount of propane leaked from the truck. The name of the driver has not been released.
A Hazmat team is on the scene. There is no fire.
The Otoe County Emergency Management Office reports the truck was driving on County Road C west of U.S. Highway 75 when a northbound train with more than 100 empty grain cars traveling from Texas to Central City, NE.
The investigation as to what happened to cause the accident is under investigation.
