Whether it is a loaded with seasoning, with cheese or served plain on a bun, Nebraskans are passionate about their burgers. The Nebraska Beef Council is once again on their quest to find the best burger in the state and they want the public’s help. Adam Wegner is the Director of Marketing for the Council and says the 4th annual Best Burger Contest is March 1st through the 15th.
The Nebraska Beef Council will accept nominations online. The five that receive the most votes will be the finalists. Nebraskans can then go back online and vote for one of the top five. A panel of judges will also score those restaurants and the winner will be determined by the highest combined total.
Hundreds of restaurants were nominated for the award in the past three years and Wegner says all were viable candidates. They expect another good turn out this year.
In 2013, the Peppermill Restaurant in Valentine took top honors. Other winners include the Cellar Bar & Grill in Kearney and Stella’s Bar & Grill in Bellevue. Also new this year is that past winners will now be eligible to win again. For a list of contest details, log on to “nebeef.org” or contact the Nebraska Beef Council at 308-236-7751.
