The University of Nebraska – Omaha is helping the students displaced by Wednesday afternoon’s fire at the Scott Village Apartments. Dan Ship is the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and says their priority is taking care of those students and getting them the help and services they need.
Shipp met with about 20 students this morning who are worried about their homework, computers, personal items to how they are going to get to classes. He says they are working through all those issues with students. He says they are also working with students to help them retrieve items left inside the building and replace other items lost.
Shipp says he saw about 20 students this morning. The cause of the fire in Unit G is not known. Building inspectors will determine how soon the students can get back inside to try to recover personal items.
