The Wayne State College women’s basketball team received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament. The 27-4 Wildcats are the #4 seed in the Central Region and will face #5 seed Pittsburg State of Kansas (23-7) in a first round game to be played on Friday, March 14 in Searcy, Arkansas.
The Wildcats have qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in the last five years and it’s the sixth time in the last nine years that Wayne State has advanced to post-season play. Wayne State College captured its third Northern Sun Conference regular season title in the last four seasons, going 19-3 in NSIC play while accumulating a 27-4 record, the second most wins by a Wayne State women’s basketball team in a single season.
