No. 24 Ohio State rallied from an 18-point second-half deficit to beat fourth-seeded Nebraska 71-67 on Friday in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament. The victory sends No. 5 seed Ohio State (25-8) into a semifinal matchup with No. 1 seed Michigan on Saturday. The Wolverines defeated No. 9 seed Illinois 64-63 in another quarterfinal on Friday.
Terran Petteway led Nebraska with 20 points, but fouled out late while defending LaQuinton Ross,who led Ohio State with 26 points and 13 rebounds. Petteway hit two free throws with 13:40 to play to put NU up 48-30. Ohio State went on a 9-0 in less than two minutes to close the game. Ross made four free throws in a minute stretch to give Ohio State the lead, 65-63 with one minute to play.
An Aaron Craft layup made it a four-point lead for OSU as the teams traded free throws in the closing seconds.
At 19-12, it will make it very difficult for the Huskers to get picked into the NCAA Tournament. The selections will be announced Sunday evening beginning at 6 p.m. CT.
