The Omaha City Council will re-think a decision made earlier this year that would allow residents to vote on a 50-million dollar bond issue to help re-develop Crossroads Mall. The money would be used for streets, parking lots, sewer and water services to the new development. Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert says she is asking the council to reconsider and have the issue removed from the May ballot. She says more thought needs to be given to the financing plan.
Mayor Stothert says she still supports the redevelopment project but believes they need to complete several economic impact studies first. She also believes there are other ways to fund the project.
The City Council will address the issue at this afternoon’s meeting.
