A Wyoming teen-ager has pleaded not guilty to the strangulation death of a western Nebraska jail guard.
15-year-old Dylan Cardeilhac of Torrington, WY entered his plea in Scotts Bluff County District Court.
Cardeilhac has been charged as an adult with first degree murder in the death of 24-year-old Amanda Baker.
Authorities say a security video shows Cardeilhac luring Baker, a guard at the Scotts Bluff Detention Center, to his cell February 14th. Prosecutors say Cardeilhac distracted Baker, then jumped on her and strangled her from behind.
A second inmate at the jail, 16-year-old Guy Eagle Elk of Lisco has also been charged as an adult with aiding Cardeilhac. He also has pleaded not guilty.
Baker initially lost consciousness. She died later after being taken to the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.
Cardeilhac had been locked up in the county jail since early December, charged with robbing a Mitchell, Nebraska convenience store.
