A 35-year-old California man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing a Sidney man late last year, allegedly over a drug debt.
The Attorney General’s office reports Jason Custer of Chico, CA has been sentenced to life in prison in Cheyenne County District Court for the murder of 35-year-old Adam McCormick. Custer has also been sentenced 20 to 50 years in prison for possession of a fire arm and 10 to 20 years for using a firearm to commit a felony. The sentences will run consecutively.
“This man shot and killed Adam McCormick over an alleged drug debt,” Attorney General Jon Bruning said in a written statement released by his office. “Today’s sentence ensures he is held accountable for his crime.”
Custer fatally shot McCormick on November 3, 2013 in Sidney, according to the Attorney General’s office. He was convicted of the charges in January 2014.
