Officials at the University of Nebraska – Omaha have spent the past few weeks working with architects, engineers and insurance adjusters to decide what to do with Building G at Scott Village, UNO’s student apartments. On February 26th a carelessly discarded cigarette caused a fire that severely damaged the structure.
The plan is to reconstruct the building by replacing all mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. They also plan to rebuild the roof and the third floor. All interior finishes will be replaced.
The goal is to have the building reconstructed and ready for use by students for Fall 2014.
