The teenager who is accused of a carjacking yesterday but didn’t get far because he couldn’t drive a stick shift has a long list of previous offenses. 17 year old Mganga Mganga is accused of being armed with a handgun and forcing a woman and her 13 year old son out of a vehicle Thursday morning near 50th and Charles in Omaha. Police say Mganga left the vehicle and ran because he didn’t know how to drive it. Police caught up with him a few blocks away and he was arrested. They also located the weapon which turned out to be plastic.
Mganga has been in trouble with the law before. He is currently out of jail on bond and is accused of three recent robberies. He is accused robbing a comic book store and two video game stores since last October. All three times he was armed with a knife.
Prosecutors plan to charge Mganga as an adult and will ask that bond be denied when he is in court later today.
