Creighton Baseball outhit Nebraska-Omaha 8-5 on Tuesday night at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha, but the Mavericks came up with timely hitting to notch a 4-1 win over its crosstown rival. Creighton dropped to 20-13-1, while UNO won its fourth consecutive contest to improve to 20-13.
Clayton Taylor homered on the sixth pitch of the game, pulling a Taylor Elman offering just inside the right-field foul pole, and the Mavericks never trailed. Visiting UNO added two runs in the third inning on a two-out single up the middle from Brett Bass to make it 3-0.
The Mavericks added an insurance run in the sixth frame when Alex Schultz and Bass had consecutive doubles.
