A 21-year-old Lincoln man has been sentenced to life in prison for the shooting death of a man found dead of multiple gunshot wounds by a newspaper carrier in late 2012.
Adrian Casares had been convicted earlier in the death of Tyler Schoenrock, who was 25.
A second man from Lincoln, 24-year-old Miguel Castillo, pleaded guilty to being an accessory to second-degree murder. He has been sentenced to a prison term of between 55 and 70 years.
The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office began the investigation into Schoenrock’s death after a carrier for the Lincoln Journal Star reported the murder. Schoenrock had been shot in the back and left on North 1st Street between Waverly and Bluff Roads December 30th of 2012.
The two confronted Schoenrock about giving information to the police about drug deals the day before the shooting.
