Two men are recovering after a house fire in Omaha Monday afternoon. Mike Marvin lives two doors down from the house at 47th and Orchard Streets and says he ran to help when he saw the flames. He kicked in the door and broke several windows so the men could escape.
One of the victims suffered burns to his face and back and the other to his arms. They have been identified as 30 year old Jermaine Charles and 31 year old Matthew Phillips. Fire investigators have not released the cause of the fire but Marvin says the two victims told him the water heater blew up.
After the fire was under control firefighters discovered a marijuana growing operation inside. Omaha police say charges are still pending. Two cats died in the fire.
