Thursday night’s game between Omaha and Round Rock at Dell Diamond was suspended after 2 ½ innings with the teams tied at one. The game will be completed to a full nine innings when the Storm Chasers return to Texas on June 1.
Daniel Robertson, in his first game with Round Rock after coming back from the big leagues, opened the home first with a gift double, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a subsequent throwing error by catcher Francisco Pena. The Storm Chasers loaded the bases in the second inning with one out but could not score after Pena struck out and Pedro Ciriaco flied out.
The visitors did get on the board in the third on a run-scoring double by Jimmy Paredes but failed to capitalize on another opportunity by stranding runners at second and third base and nobody out. After Scott Richmond worked his way out of the jam, the game was halted by rain. Following a 90 minute wait, the decision was made to call off play for the remainder of the night due to unplayable field conditions.
The series concludes Friday night with Omaha left-hander John Lamb taking the mound against a Round Rock starter still to be determined.
