A suspect in a South Dakota shooting apparently shot and killed himself this weekend after being pursued into Nebraska.
The Nebraska State Patrol reports 38-year-old Eric Michael Johnson of Elk Point, S.D. fled on Interstate 29, first driving north, then turning around and driving south into Iowa. He drove into Nebraska, took Highway 75 south until his pick-up ran over stop strips near the junction of Highways 75 and 94, which punctuated the tires, stopping him north of Macy.
Johnson shot himself in the head, according to authorities.
The NSP continues to investigate the incident.
South Dakota authorities suspect Johnson shot and wounded a woman Saturday evening in North Sioux City. The woman is expected to survive her wounds.
