Charlie Krueger’s fifth inning home run proved to be the difference as the 18th-ranked Bellevue University baseball edged No. 20 Northwestern (Iowa) College Tuesday in the Bruins’ first game of the NAIA Opening Round in Shawnee, OK.
With the win, Bellevue (38-15-2) advances to the winner’s bracket and will play the winner between Bacone and top-ranked Oklahoma Baptist at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Bellevue is now 5-8 all-time in the NAIA Opening Round since the format was adopted in 2009.
Game 4 of the NAIA Opening Round Baseball Marion Bracket featured No. 2 Point Park versus No. 4 Midland. Midland (43-18) held on after the rain delay to defeat Point Park (40-18) 6-3. Midland plays top-seeded Georgetown Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. in Marion, IN.
