Authorities now say a central Nebraska man was killed when he was hit by a car earlier this week in eastern Iowa.
Police in Davenport, Iowa, say 74-year-old John “Jack” O’Brien of Stapleton, Nebraska, was crossing a street late on Monday in the Mississippi River city’s downtown when he was struck by a passing Toyota Corolla.
O’Brien was hospitalized in Davenport and later died from his injuries.
Police say the driver of the car, 46-year-old Travis Hearn of Rock Island, Illinois, was cited for not having a driver’s license. More charges may still be coming as the investigation remains open.
Investigators say weather may have been a factor in the crash.
