Residents of Beaver Crossing will be getting help today from a number of community agencies in cleaning up damage and debris after Sunday’s tornado. Liz Dorland is the communications manager for the American Red Cross – Nebraska Southwest Iowa Region and says they are distributing cleaning supplies, gloves, trash bags and providing ice, water and snacks to residents and volunteers today. The American Red Cross has four emergency vehicles in Beaver Crossing for the distribution.
Dorland says they will also have caseworkers available to meet with homeowners to develop an individual recovery plan. A multi-agency resource center has been established at the Methodist Church. Residents can visit one-on-one with all of the partnering agencies and get answers to additional questions they may have.
Dorland says anyone who is interested in making a donation to assist with the recovery can do so by logging on to redcross.org or by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS. She says they always in need of volunteers to help with disasters and other American Red Cross programs.
