Applications are currently being accepted for the 26th annual Brush Up Nebraska Paint-A-Thon. Executive Director Jim Pettigrew the program is designed to help low income homeowners by painting the exterior of their homes. He says application forms are available at any Wells Fargo Bank or by calling 211.
Pettigrew says an independent selection committee will select the homeowners and the work is done at no cost. Applicants must reside in Douglas and Sarpy Counties or in Council Bluffs, Iowa, be over 60 years of age or disabled.
The goal is to paint 80 to 85 homes on August 16th. In the past 25 years 2,578 homes have been painted at no cost to the homeowner. About 2,000 volunteers are needed to get the job done and teams can register by calling 402-965-9169.
Applications and registrations must be returned by June 13th.
