The unofficial start of summer is this coming weekend and Nebraska Game and Parks Commission spokesman Greg Wagner expects a full house at state parks and recreation areas. He says those planning on camping shouldn’t wait too long to secure a site.
Wagner says campers are already staking their claim at many of the 70-plus NebraskaParks and Recreation sites. Campsites can be reserved up to a year an advance at 24 locations but the majority of campsites are on a first-come, first served basis.
All campsites must be visited at least once within a 24 hour period. It is against Game & Parks regulations to leave a vehicle or property unattended longer without the permission of the park superintendent.
