Nebraska U.S. Senator Deb Fischer is calling for the resignation of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki for his failed leadership in addressing the growing national scandal surrounding the agency.
“The time for anger and the time for reports has passed and the American people want action. I don’t believe that the secretary has demonstrated the strong leadership necessary to aggressively address this schematic failure.” Fischer says on Wednesday.
Senator Fischer announced she has also introduced legislation to prohibit the payment of bonuses to employees at the Veterans Health Administration through Fiscal Year 2015.
President Barack Obama says in a speech Wednesday morning that if there’s misconduct at the Department of Veterans Affairs, it will be punished. But President Obama is also asking for patience while investigators get to the bottom of what happened.
