With remembrances across the state today, Nebraska U.S. Senator Mike Johanns says it’s time for all Nebraskans to pay service to those who’ve given the ultimate sacrifice for the United States. Senator Johanns says now is not the time to take our freedoms for granted and to thank those who served to help protect the country.
“I want to encourage everyone to take a moment to consider the blessings and freedoms we enjoy each day and how those freedoms were won,” says Johanns. “Our current and former military men and women and their families have sacrificed so much to secure our American way of life. We must not take it for granted.”
Johanns says that on Memorial Day, it’s a great day to reach out to a veteran and say thanks for their service. American and Nebraska flags across the state will remain at half-staff until noon today by order of Governor Dave Heineman.
