Danielle Lemek won her ninth state golf title by 11-strokes, capturing the Nebraska Women’s Stroke Play Tournament earlier this week at West Wind Golf Course/Ogallala. Lemek, who won the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament as she attends Bradley University, shot eight-under-par in the first round and six-under in the final round, beating out Sarah Jo Pravecek by 11.
Lemek is the winner of four state girls titles in the state amateur, state match play and high school tournaments with Doniphan-Trumbull. Lemek looks to add to her trophy case later this summer when she will play in the State Women’s Amateur on June 23-25 at Hidden Valley Golf Course in Lincoln and the Nebraska Women’s Match Play Championship later in the summer at Oak Hills Country Club in Omaha.
Also, Mike Krumland won the Nebraska Senior Amateur championship at Elks Country Club in Columbus by two strokes over John Sajevic on Tuesday. It is the second men’s senior title for Krumland who won in 2006. The Columbus native shot 76 on the first day and finished with a 4-under 68 to finish even-par for the tournament.
