Today marks the 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion in Normandy, France. Former Nebraska Governor and U-S Senator Bob Kerrey took time today remember those brave men who served years before he wore the uniform in the Vietnam War.
Kerrey says their bravery and courage needs to be an inspiration for all. He says they knew the odds were against them but they pressed on.
Kerrey is no stranger to battle. He was a Navy SEAL and awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. When asked what it is like to be in a life or death combat situation Kerrey said, “I don’t think there is any way. It is like trying to describe pain.” He says today we should express sympathy for lives lost and appreciation and gratitude for their actions.
