Five young people were shot over a three day period in Omaha. One of the five, Brandon Wallace, was killed.
He was shot outside of a home in the city’s northeast area on Saturday afternoon. He was taken to a hospital where he later died. Friends and family of Wallace marched last night to remember him and as a call for peace.
Others wounded this weekend include Milton Dortch. He was seriously injured Saturday and continues to recover. Police say Sunday morning a car pulled up and someone inside fired shots that hit two 16 year olds. Sebit Mayote and Nywahr Paojur were both rushed to a hospital and continue to recover.
Two suspects in the shooting were stopped a short time later. Police say there was enough evidence to take two occupants downtown. Davonte Hill is suspected of firing the shots and Andrey Tolbert had an outstanding warrant.
In another shooting near 48th and Platt another teenager was shot and critically injured. Last Thursday, Taelor Fentress was celebrating her 6th birthday when someone fired shots at her home. One of the bullets passed through a wall hitting Taelor in the face.
She was released from the hospital on Friday and continues to recover at home.
