Armed robber hits store clerk with gun

June 9, 2014 By Karla James

A convenience store clerk is recovering after being pistol whipped by a robber early this morning in Omaha.   Police were sent to a Kwik Shop on north 72nd Street just before 3:30 am. Investigators say the suspect showed the clerk the gun and demanded money. That is when the suspect hit the clerk and forced him to open the cash register. Once he grabbed the money he took off on foot. The clerk was taken to a hospital where he was treated and released.

Police say the suspect description is the same given by a Kum & Go clerk at 89th and Boyd Street.   Police say officers were sent to that location about a half hour earlier. In that case the clerk ran to the back of the store. The suspect didn’t get the cash but took several items before getting in to a vehicle that was waiting for him.
