An Omaha man was rushed to a hospital after being hit by gunfire around noon today. Sgt. Steve Martinez with the Omaha Police Department says the victim was outside of a house mowing a lawn in the north-central part of the city when apparently a person with a gun walked up and started shooting.
Sgt. Martinez says the man was hit in the torso. He then ran to a nearby family member’s house for help. He was alert and talking when police arrived and taken to a hospital trauma center for treatment. He is expected to recover.
Neighbors say they heard anywhere from one to seven shots fired. The search for the shooter continues.
