A $90-million expansion is underway at Metropolitan Community College – Fort Omaha Campus. Executive Vice President Jim Grotrian says ground was broken Tuesday on three new buildings that will be located on the south end of campus.
The project includes a new Center for Advanced and Emerging Technology, the Construction Education Center and the Academic Skills Center. Grotrian says this is part of Metropolitan Community College’s mission to build a strong regional workforce by training students for jobs today and tomorrow.
The Fort Omaha campus at 30th and Fort Streets in Omaha is on the National Register of Historic Places. It was established as a military operation in 1868 and many of the original buildings remain.
