Businesses in the Omaha metro area will sleep a bit easier now what a suspected serial robber is behind bars. Omaha, Council Bluffs and Carter Lake police officers were on the look-out for the suspect after nearly a dozen recent armed robberies. Council Bluffs police arrested 24 year old Matthew Koval after seeing him run from a Walgreen’s. He was found with the stolen money and a pellet gun.
Earlier this week Council Bluffs police put out an alert this suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. They described him as “reckless” and “brazen”. Koval is currently charged with one robbery in Council Bluffs more charges are expected. He is being held on $100,000 bond and a preliminary hearing will be held next month.
Investigators are also looking into whether Koval is responsible for other robberies. Those may include two hotels and a Walgreen’s in Omaha, three convenience stores and a motel in Council Bluffs and a motel robbery in Carter Lake.
