For the first time in more than 40 years a world boxing championship match is being held in Omaha Saturday night. Omaha native Terence Crawford will go against Yorkis Gamboa for the Lightweight World Boxing Championship. Crawford is very pleased to be home and that the event is going to be held at the CenturyLinkCenter.
Crawford says, “I feel good, you know. This is what I’ve been asking for all along and now that we are here I’m ready for the moment.”
Both Crawford and Gamboa are undefeated.
This is the first world championship bout in Omaha since the legendary Ron Stander – Joe Frazier heavyweight match in 1972 at the Civic Auditorium.
