Ralston, Nebraska is also known as Independence City – USA and activities for their 54th annual celebration get underway Thursday. Mayor Don Groeser says it truly is an old fashioned 4th of July celebration. Thursday night festivities start with a picnic in the park followed by a pie baking contest and a street dance.
Mayor Groeser says the big events will be on Friday the 4th. He says the day will start out with a fun run early in the morning. A kiddie parade will start at 10 am and the annual 4th of July parade will start at 1 pm at 82nd and Q Streets. He says there are 118 entries in this year’s parade. Those attending should stake claim to a spot early as space fills quickly.
There is also a fireworks spectacular at the Ralston Arena Friday night.
