Kelsey Robinson, the Big Ten’s player of the year at Nebraska this past season, playing in her first top-level match, had 15 points for the U.S. women’s volleyball national team as they defeated Brazil 25-21, 25-23, 25-20 at USC’s Galen Center, in the second match of the USA Volleyball Cup, Sunday night.
The Brazilians, ranked No. 1 in the world, beat the U.S. in the gold medal match of the past two Olympics. However, the U.S. women beat Brazil two matches in a row in this series after opening with a four set victory Saturday night at UC Irvine. The four-match series moves to Hawaii for matches Friday and Saturday.
Robinson, an outside hitter last season with Nebraska was also named a first-team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
