More than 300 young collegians competed at the two-day U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Junior Championships in Eugene, Ore. this weekend and it was another big weekend for Nebraska Cornhuskers. In the last two events on Sunday, Anna Peer finished second in the 5,000 meters race with a time of 17:23, 22 second behind the winner and Joe Harter finished 10th out of 19 in the men’s 10,000 meter race.
Jazmin McCoy won the women’s long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 11 ¼ inches, which came on her first attempt. Tierra Williams finished seventh at 20 feet, 1 ½ inches.
Sarah Firestone finished sixth in the women’s javelin. Cody Walton ninth in men’s javelin. Christopher Daniels finished 13th in men’s discus.
