A report released last week by the AmericanCollege of Physicians now advises against the yearly exam for women who are not pregnant or experiencing problems.
University of Nebraska Medical Center OB-GYN Dr. Libby Crockett is a member of the AmericanCollege of Obstetricians & Gynecologists and says they still recommend the yearly exam for all women over 21. She says they have done such a good job promoting yearly health checks and fears that will decline.
Dr. Crockett says many other physical issues are caught during that yearly exam including heart, lung and internal problems. She now fears that many women won’t get the rest of the physical because of this new report.
Those with questions should consult their doctor.
