I’m sure tennis fans are familiar with Lincoln native Jack Sock, but if you are a casual fan of the sport, take notice. Sock and his doubles partner Canadian Vasek Popisil, won another ATP doubles finals. This comes just three weeks after the two decided to give it a go at Wimbledon and went out and won that Grand Slam event.
On Sunday, Sock and Popisil beat Americans Steve Johnson and Sam Querrey in a third set tie-breaker to win the Atlanta Open. Sock said one of their goals is to make the ATP world finals. The pair has tournaments in Toronto and Cincinnati before they get ready for the U.S. Open which plays in September.
They are projected to rise to No. 7 in the Emirates ATP Doubles Team Race To London when the latest numbers are released Monday.
