Serial killer Nikko Jenkins has been ordered to the Lincoln Regional Center.
Douglas County District Judge Peter Bataillon gave the order for Jenkins to be moved to the center. He will stay at the regional center until doctors determine he is competent to understand the death penalty proceedings he faces for murdering four people.
Jenkins, 27, has been found guilty of killing four in Omaha after being released from prison: Juan Uribe-Pena, Jorge Cajiga-Ruiz, Curtis Bradford, and Andrea Kruger.
But, Jenkins’ mental state has came into question after his conviction.
State psychiatrists have stated they believe Jenkins has been faking mental illness. They assert treatment would be futile.
Jenkins had been scheduled to stand before a three-judge death-penalty panel on August 11th. That has been postponed indefinitely.
