A pop-up kiosk in the Old Market area of Omaha received a lot of attention Tuesday. Cally Casey is the marketing manager with the beverage company Honest Tea and says this is part of a light-hearted experiment to see just how honest people in Nebraska really are.
The kiosk was stocked with bottled beverage and a clear Lucite box asking people to donate a dollar for each item. Waiting in the wings are people watching to see who donates and who helps themselves without paying. That information will be compared to experiments in all 50 states to see who is honest and who is not.
This is the sixth National Honesty Index conducted by the Honest Tea Company. Last year’s results showed that 96% of Nebraskans were honest and put a dollar in the donation box. The national average was 92%.
Results will be released on August 19th.
