The United Way of the Midlands has announced that its President and CEO, Karen Bricklemyer, has died.
Bricklemyer was 47.
The United Way of the Midlands, based in Omaha, announced last week Bricklemyer had been admitted to Creighton University Medical Center with an aortic dissection.
The hospital carried out her wishes to donate her organs.
A memorial service will be held Friday afternoon at 4 o’clock. A reception will follow at the UNO Thompson Alumni Center. The family will receive friends on Saturday between 2 and 4pm at the West Center Chapel of Heafey-Heafey-Hoffman-Dworak-Cutler Mortuaries.
Bricklemyer led United Way of the Midlands for three years. Among her achievements were a community assessment, strategic planning, and a beginning a new priority of breaking the cycle of poverty in the Omaha metro area.
