Nearly 100 pounds of marijuana has been seized after a state trooper stopped a car on Interstate 80 for following too close.
The Nebraska State Patrol reports a trooper stopped the car late Sunday morning on eastbound I-80 near the Beaver Crossing exit. After getting consent to search the vehicle, the trooper found 99.6 pounds of marijuana in a suitcase in the car trunk.
The trooper arrested the driver, 26-year-old Santiago Adame- Melchor of Aurora CO, and a passenger in the vehicle, Anahit Conejo-Galicoa, also 26 and also from Aurora. They have been charged with trying to sell the marijuana and now are residents of the Seward County jail.
