The Saltdogs scored four runs in the top of the first but the Winnipeg Goldeyes (1-0) scored six unanswered to take game one of the best-of-five American Association Division Series 6-4 at Shaw Park Wednesday night.
Lincoln scored the four runs on RBI hits from Ian Gac, Brian Joynt, Jeremy Hamilton and Mike Gilmartin, but the home team chipped away at the lead.
Winnipeg scored a run in the second and added three more with two-outs runs in the bottom of the third, with rain falling steadily. Reggie Abercrombie ripped a RBI triple before Donnie Webb homered to right center to make it 4-4.
Winnipeg’s Chris Salamida (1-0) was brilliant after the rocky first inning, going eight while striking out a season-high 10 and walking two to earn the win. The lefty 133 pitches.
Lincoln starter Joe Bisenius (0-1) pitched six innings, yielding six runs on 11 hits while fanning seven and walking four to suffer the loss.
Game two of the best-of-five series is Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. at Shaw Park. RHP Marquis Fleming is expected to pitch against RHP Ethan Hollingsworth.
