Sophomore Jaycie Johnson scored her ninth goal of the season in the 31st minute to give NU an early 1-0 lead, but the Minnesota Golden Gophers scored three to win 3-1 on Thursday.
The Gophers tied the score, 1-1, in the 42nd minute when Josee Stiever scored off an assist from Simone Kolander. Kolander also assisted on Minnesota’s second goal, as Taylor Stainbrook knocked it in to the top right corner of the goal to give the Gophers a 2-1 advantage. In the 68th minute, Stainbrook added her second goal of the game, this time off an assist from Rashida Beal.
Nebraska falls to 5-7-2 on the season, with a 1-5-2 record in the Big Ten. Minnesota improves to 7-6-1 overall, and holds a 4-3-1 mark in conference play.
The Huskers return home to the Nebraska Soccer Field for a pair of Big Ten matches next weekend. NU faces Purdue on Friday, Oct. 17 at 4 p.m. (CT) before battling Indiana on Sunday, Oct. 19 at noon.
