The Nebraska State Patrol reports 32-year-old Terence Dean of Omaha has been taken to the Nebraska Medical Center after complaining of minor injuries. He faces charges for fleeing from a Dodge County deputy who pulled him over and running from law enforcement.
Troopers responded shortly after noon today to reports of a possible assault and kidnapping in Scribner. They came upon the deputy who had pulled over a sports utility vehicle near Hooper on Highway 275. The SUV took off from that traffic stop. The chase began.
The SUV headed eastbound on 275, reaching speeds of 80 to 85 miles per hour as troopers pursued. The vehicle then headed east on Highway 6/Dodge Street, running over the spike strips near 168th and Dodge in Omaha. The strips shredded one rear tire, slowing the vehicle to around 55 mph.
Four NSP units boxed in the vehicle as it headed east onto the elevated Dodge Expressway. The vehicle crashed into one unit, and then hit the three others before coming to a stop near 126th and Dodge.
